Authors publishing in JEMEDWELL retain full copyright of their work. Upon acceptance, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free license to publish, reproduce, distribute, and archive the article in any medium or format.

All published articles are made freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. No permissions are required from authors or publishers for non-commercial use, provided proper attribution is given.

You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. Attribution must include: author names, article title, journal name, year, volume, issue, page numbers, and DOI.

Section 2
What Authors May Do With Their Own Work

Since authors retain copyright, they have broad rights to use and share their published work without needing permission from the journal. The following activities are explicitly permitted:

 
Self-Archiving (Green OA)

Deposit the final published PDF in any institutional repository, subject repository (e.g., PubMed Central), or personal website immediately upon publication with no embargo period.

 
Posting to Preprint Servers

Authors may post preprints (pre-peer review) and accepted manuscripts to servers such as bioRxiv, medRxiv, or SSRN. Posting should note that the work is under review or has been accepted/published in JEMEDWELL.

 
Academic & Educational Use

Reproduce, distribute, or display articles in classroom settings, textbooks, dissertations, grant applications, or conference presentations. No prior permission required; proper citation is sufficient.

 
Reuse in Subsequent Works

Authors may reuse their own published figures, tables, or portions of text in new publications, provided that the original source in JEMEDWELL is properly cited and appropriate acknowledgment is included.

 
Translation & Adaptation

Authors may translate their articles into other languages or adapt them for different audiences. The translated/adapted work must clearly reference the original publication and note that it is a derivative work.

 
Media & Public Dissemination

Authors are encouraged to share their work via social media, press releases, blogs, or media appearances. JEMEDWELL supports broad public outreach of scientific findings to maximize societal impact.

Section 3
Third-Party Content & Permissions
Author's Responsibility for Third-Party Material

Authors are solely responsible for obtaining written permission to reproduce any third-party copyrighted content (figures, tables, photographs, scales, instruments) included in their manuscript. Permission must be obtained before submission. Copies of permission letters must be uploaded as supplementary material. Failure to obtain permission may result in rejection or post-publication correction.

Figures & Images

Figures adapted or reproduced from other publications require written permission from the original copyright holder. This includes graphs, photographs, maps, illustrations, and microscopy images. Public domain and openly licensed (CC) images must still be attributed correctly.

Patient photographs require individual written consent for publication (separate from study consent).

Tables & Data

Tables reproduced from published sources require permission. Substantially modified tables may require permission plus a note: "Adapted from [source]." Data from national databases (e.g., BPS, WHO, CDC) typically allow reproduction with attribution only — verify the specific database's terms.

Scales & Instruments

Validated psychometric scales, questionnaires, or clinical instruments may be copyright-protected. Authors must confirm licensing status and obtain permission or demonstrate that the instrument is in the public domain before including it (in full or in part) in the manuscript or supplementary files.

Traditional Knowledge & Plants

Photographs of plants, herbal preparations, or ethnomedicine practices should ideally be original or open-licensed. Any use of traditional knowledge or cultural heritage materials must be accompanied by appropriate community consent and attribution, per the Nagoya Protocol obligations.

Digital Preservation & Persistent Identifiers

JEMEDWELL ensures long-term accessibility and citability of all published content through the following infrastructure:

 
DOI via Crossref

Every article receives a unique, permanent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) registered with Crossref, ensuring stable, long-term links and citation tracking.

 
PKP LOCKSS

Archived in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP-PN) using LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) technology, ensuring distributed, permanent backup of all content.

 
Google Scholar Indexing

All published articles are indexed in Google Scholar, maximizing discoverability and citation tracking. Metadata is updated with each new issue.

 
DOAJ & Sinta Listing

Journal metadata and article DOIs are registered with DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) and Indonesian science index Sinta, supporting international and national discovery.

Copyright Infringement & Takedown Requests
Reporting Infringement

If you believe that content published in JEMEDWELL infringes your copyright, please contact the editorial office with: (1) a description of the copyrighted work; (2) the URL of the infringing material; (3) proof of your ownership; and (4) your contact information. We will respond within 14 business days.

JEMEDWELL's Response

Upon receiving a valid infringement complaint, JEMEDWELL will investigate and take appropriate action including: contacting the corresponding author for clarification, issuing a correction or retraction notice if the complaint is substantiated, or removing infringing material pending investigation per our takedown procedure.
