This statement is consistent with the privacy framework established under Indonesian Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (UU PDP) and the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR 2016/679), which we adopt as international best practice for data governance.
2. Personal Data We Collect
For Authors & Reviewers
Full name, institutional affiliation, academic title, email address, ORCID iD, Google Scholar profile, Scopus Author ID, postal address (if required for correspondence), biographical note, manuscript submission history, and review activity records. Passwords are stored in encrypted (hashed) form and are never accessible to journal staff.
For Website Visitors
We may collect non-personally identifiable information through cookies and third-party analytics tools (including Flag Counter visitor statistics), such as IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and session duration. This data is collected in aggregate and is not linked to any personal identity.
Regarding Research Participants (Declaration of Helsinki)
JEMEDWELL does not collect personal data of research participants directly. However, in compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki (2013 revision) and the ICMJE Recommendations, all manuscripts involving human subjects must have received ethics committee approval and must protect participant anonymity. Authors must not include identifiable patient data in submitted manuscripts without explicit written informed consent.
3. Purpose of Data Use
Personal data submitted to JEMEDWELL is used exclusively for the following legitimate academic publishing purposes, consistent with the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Review:
Manuscript Management
Processing, reviewing, and publishing submitted manuscripts through OJS workflow.
Editorial Communication
Corresponding with authors regarding submission status, revisions, and decisions.
Peer Review Process
Matching manuscripts to qualified reviewers while maintaining confidentiality.
Indexing & Metadata
Submitting author and article metadata to indexing databases (DOAJ, Crossref, Google Scholar).
Journal Improvement
Analyzing aggregate usage data to improve journal services and user experience.
Legal Compliance
Maintaining records as required by applicable Indonesian law and international publishing standards.

JEMEDWELL does not sell, rent, or trade personal data to third parties. Data may be shared only in the following limited circumstances:

6. Your Rights as a Data Subject
In accordance with UU PDP No. 27/2022 (Articles 5–16) and GDPR 2016/679 (Articles 15–22), you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right to Withdraw Consent
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing.

7. Patient Privacy and Research Ethics
Declaration of Helsinki (Revised 2013) — WMA
All research involving human subjects published in JEMEDWELL must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki. Authors must confirm that: (1) the study was approved by a competent institutional ethics committee (KEPK); (2) informed consent was obtained from all participants; and (3) patient identifying information has been removed or consent for publication has been given in writing.
ICMJE Recommendations — Patient Consent
Per ICMJE Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals, case reports and studies involving identifiable patient data must include a signed patient consent form for publication. Authors must provide a statement of compliance with ICMJE standards in the submission cover letter.
8. Cookies and Analytics
Our website uses session cookies necessary for OJS platform functionality (e.g., maintaining login state). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. The Flag Counter widget embedded in our sidebar collects aggregate visitor statistics (country flags, visit counts) and does not collect personally identifiable information. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect certain platform functions.

JEMEDWELL implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, including:

In the event of a personal data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected individuals and relevant authorities in accordance with UU PDP No. 27/2022 (within 14 days) and GDPR Article 33 (within 72 hours) requirements.

JEMEDWELL reserves the right to update this Privacy Statement at any time. Material changes will be announced on the journal website with a revised effective date. Continued use of the journal platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated statement.
